1、
The Legend of Skyfish 2 isn't the only movement on the Apple Arcade front today. No, there's not another new game, but one of the best on the service – Grindstone – is getting a noteworthy update that adds a bunch of levels alongside a new boss, enemy and weapons.

That boss will be Jorj's long-standing rival, who can also chain through enemies as our hero does. To battle them, however, you'll first need to slaughter your way through 15 extra levels. Each of those levels will contain additional traps and foes that are aimed to test even the most hardened Grindstone aficionado.

If you have a passing interest in mobile games, you're likely playing Clash Royale. Like, right now. Gah, you just let that Hog Rider smash your tower because you were too busy reading this! Amateur.

Anyway, why not supplement that insane interest in Clash Royale in a manner that's more palatable while playing. Or, in other words, listen to Royal Mumble, our brand new podcast that's dedicated to your favourite new toilet game instead.

Royal Mumble is brought to you by the most despicable cast of characters Pocket Gamer and 148Apps has to offer. That's Glen Fox, Editor of 148Apps, and Alex Rennie, one of those annoying salesmen who pester you with constant calls and email follow-ups.

He does have an amusing Mancunian accent that's reminiscent of Karl Pilkington though. Worth tuning in for that alone.

So put that phone down for just one second and head on over to our official SoundCloud page where the first three episodes are available right now for your listening (dis)pleasure.

You can also download each one of them to take on the go with you, if you're feeling really desperate.

It's got features, banter, and laughs galore and we want you - yes you! - to get involved.

That means following us on Facebook, Twitter, and SoundCloud, liking our stuff as it becomes available, and, most importantly, engaging with us. Shout tips or hurl abuse at us - whatever seems most appropriate to you while listening. We'll then read it out on a future podcast if we're organised enough to remember.

That might be asking too much though.

Either way, tune in every single working day to hear us rant and rave about Clash Royale. You won't regret it. Though you probably will.

Enjoy!

4、
Square Enix's free to play RPG Rise of Mana, based on the popular World of Mana franchise is shutting down its servers at the end of March in Japan. Apparently, the game was no longer profitable.

Released in Japan in 2014 on iOS, PS Vita and then Android, it never saw the light of day in the west.

It's an action RPG that lets you explore a 3D world and take down monsters in small, enclosed, areas.

If you want to see more gameplay, here you go:

What with the recent release of games like Stela and Little Orpheus, as well as the relatively recent remaster of Flashback, I'd definitely argue that cinematic platformers are having somewhat of a resurgence on mobile at the moment. It's perfect timing for mobile then, that Ministry of Broadcast, is heading to mobile phones later this year.

Ministry of Broadcast is a game that we've been watching for a while - first noticing it when it entered into our Big Indie Pitch at Sweden Game Arena back in 2018. In the time since it has launched on Nintendo Switch and PC - but we're pleased to announce, exclusively as part of Pocket Gamer LaunchPad, that the platformer will be making its way to iOS later this year - and we've got some teases of what it will look like.

For those of you who don't know much about Ministry of Broadcast it''s a platformer which centres around a lowly citizen within an authoritarian government who simply wants to reunite with his family. The issue is that the family are on the other side of The Wall, and the only way through is to sneak through a series of puzzling encampments... oh, and as a further twist, it's all televised for the nation's entertainment.

This means that at its best moments Ministry of Broadcast feels like a self-aware attempt to rekindle the cinematic platformer genre, and even at its weaker moments, it is actually quite forgiving due to its generous checkpointing.

I've said Cinematic Platformer a lot during this article, and I actually say it quite a bit when I write. That's due in part to me being around when the genre was a buzzword. There's a lot of debate about what makes a game slot into the genre, but they're normally platformers which feature puzzle aspects based on their slower, more deliberate (and often motion-captured) platforming. Classics like the first Prince of Persia, Out of This World and Flashback are often cited as the starting points for it. In many ways, the early Tomb Raider games, as well as the Oddworld series and Heart of Darkness, gave the genre a second resurgence in the late 90s - and I wouldn't be surprised if the developers chalked up a lot of these as influences.

Ministry of Broadcast will be launching on the App Store later this year, with a targetted September release.
Head to the Pocket Gamer LaunchPad hub to find all of our exclusive announcements from our three-day event.
