Splatoon was Nintendo's saving grace last year as it sold quite a lot for a new IP. In it, you controlled squid-like humans that used an ink gun to splat the color of your team all over the map. You could also teleport to your teammates at any given moment.

Released earlier this week, Splat Wars feels... strangely similar. You control Splatoids and you need to get more ink on the map than the opposing team. You can also "super-teleport" to your friends at any time. But instead of 3D, it's all from a top down perspective.

You have to admit it all sounds really similar. In any case, it's out now on iOS for free.

I'm curious to see how and if Nintendo will react to the game at all.
