Developer Animoca Brands teamed up with Formula 1 to develop a range of digital collectables and a racing game using the blockchain technology powering the Ethereum cryptocurrency.

In F1 Delta Time, players can collect and trade non-fungible tokens (NFTs) — unique digital assets that cannot be duplicated. It’s one of a handful of blockchain titles such as CryptoKitties and Gods Unchained that are essentially modern twists on the trading card game. In this case, there are a range of NFTs available, from one-of-a-kind racing cars to F1 drivers — each a rare, valuable asset. But the game will go one step further by allowing collectors to enter into 2.5D, top-down races against each other, adding an element of multiplayer competition.

F1 Delta Time is being rolled out in two phases: first, the auctioning of the NFTs in progress now, and secondly — slated for next year — the competitive races and rankings.

At the end of May, F1 Delta Time auctioned off the world’s first Formula 1 NFT: the ‘1-1-1’ - a one-off sleek diamond-encrusted racing car that sold for an incredible 415.9 ether (worth around £90,000 at the time of sale). That’s one of the highest figures ever gleaned by the sale of an NFT. It’s also the highest price fetched by a single in-game item that we’re aware of, and it is without a doubt the most expensive virtual car ever.

Now, the second F1 Delta Time racing car to go on auction has been revealed: the 'Monaco Edition 2019'. Everything about this exclusive vehicle is a tribute to the recently held 2019 Monaco Grand Prix, from the red and white paint job evocative of Monaco's coat of arms, to its statistics, carefully chosen based on the history of the world-famous racing competition.

With similar scarcity (i.e., unique), desirability and symbolism through design as the ’1-1-1’ - and the added appeal for fans of Monaco and of its racing circuit - this car could end up fetching another heart-skipping sum. To find out more about the one-off 'Monaco Edition 2019' car, and perhaps prepare a bid yourself, head to www.F1DeltaTime.com

Nintendo Labo launched back at the end of April to generally positive reviews. Folks who tried the cardboard toy turned game were delighted by Labo’s creativity and knack for imaginative play. But what’s next for Labo, now that the initial excitement has died down somewhat? Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, laid out some of the company’s expectations for Labo for the future in an interview with The Verge.

Nintendo is hoping that Labo will be the next Wii Fit or Brain Age, titles that moved millions of copies over a period of many years.

“. . . It’s a game that’s going to sell for a very long time at a very steady pace, which is a different curve than a traditional video game,” Reggie says. “And so from that standpoint, our focus is on how we can continue to support it, how we continue to help consumers understand the proposition.”

Great news for anyone who loved the smash hit mobile game Real Steel - on the 10th September the chart topping title will be free to download across iOS devices. And if that wasn't enough, this September the game will receive its biggest ever update.

With over 8 million downloads across all platforms already under its belt, the updated app is set to be bigger, better, and far more bad ass than its predecessor.

You’ll get to choose an avatar from a 45 strong selection of robots, including the classic movie champs Atom “Peoples Champion”, and Zeus “King of Robots”, and battle to the death in this futuristic, underground fighting contest.

But if you thought the game couldn’t get any better, then think again. The Horse and the StagThe Astronomer
Yesterday the team behind the popular 3DS emulator Citra, revealed that they've got one brewing for the Nintendo Switch and it's called Yuzu.
Announcing yuzu, the first Nintendo Switch emulator that does all of the things you didn't need it to do! Stay tuned for more from the yuzu team!— yuzu (@yuzuemu) January 14, 2018 There's not an awful lot of information to go on and while this is great news for some gamers, it's also leaves a bit of a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

Aside from the ongoing debate as to whether emulators should be legal or not, it's also happened far, far faster than anyone expected, announced only ten months after the Switch's debut. Though plenty of gamers are on board about the idea of Yuzu, there are also those who believe emulators shouldn't be used until the console's had a few years on the market, and that's a fair claim.

Coming from the minds behind Citra, at least the legitimacy is promising. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has already been emulated from the Wii U thanks to Cemu, and as the Switch's flagship game it was surprising to see Nintendo utterly silent on the matter.

Emulation may wade through a bit of a grey area, but when used to bring older games to more recent systems, it gives the titles a new lease of life and keeps them from disappearing. How it'll affect the Switch's life and sales, however, remains to be seen.

What do you guys think? Are you happy about the prospect or are you against it? Let us know in the comments below.
